Citizens, Former Citizens, and People with a heart for Lynch:
I am Ronnie Hampton a graduate and life long citizen of Lynch, Kentucky . I am a minister and also the pastor of a church here in Lynch. I am a retired 38 year veteran of the coal mines. On May 12th I was appointed by the Lynch City Council to finish the term of our previous mayor, who resigned for health purposes. After praying about the decision to accept this position it was revealed to me that the city is in excess of $100,000 in unpaid debt to the IRS. This incident is under investigation. However, after taking office and upon reviewing the city’s bank statements it was discovered that through a malicious, felonious, and selfish act, all the city’s accounts had been depleted and the current status of the city revealed passed due accounts also to be in excess of $100,000. This incident is also under investigation by the Kentucky State Police. The city and the citizens of Lynch are in a state of shock and in need of your help.
As a young man growing up in Lynch I got to observe how people came to the aid of those who were in need. I watched men work other men’s fields and gardens who were disabled. I watched women put their homes on hold to take care of a sick neighbor’s home. I watched families who didn’t have anything sacrifice to give to other families who had even less. I watched this city come together and create champions year after year.
Lynch has proudly given birth to many professions which have impacted our nation in a profound way. She has given birth to her share of athletes and coaches, politicians and lawmakers, lawyers and judges, interns and surgeons, skilled nurses and surgical assistants, engineers and supervisors, salesmen and architects, directors and entrepreneurs, musicians and performers, pastors and teachers, miners and carpenters, professors and counselors, CPA’s and accountants, factory workers and foremen, truck and bus drivers, pilots and servicemen, authors and orators, computer programmers and designers, masons and artists.
I hesitated coming to you in this way but Lynch, after giving so much to so many, is in need of your help. Our citizens have responded with sacrifices and donations but this project is beyond our capabilities. I have pledged and given the first $500. I thank those of you who have given even before this request. No amount is too small and certainly no amount is too large! By the grace of God I believe and trust that you will respond in kindness. As a native son and child of God, I promise you that these funds will not be misappropriated and will be used entirely for the rescuing and restoring of our city. Thank you very much!
